1992 – That is the year that Hurricane Andrew came barreling through South Florida and changed the lives for many. Mine included. I spent several weeks volunteering in Florida City, during the Hurricane Andrew recovery efforts. My life changed during those 3 weeks. I realized the true power of mother nature and the importance of proper preparation before, during, and after a hurricane.
I knew I wanted to change my career path and enrolled at Mississippi State University (MSU) to pursue Meteorology. After graduating with a degree in Meteorology, I interned at NBC, and later worked at ABC, as a Broadcast Meteorologist.
My career took a bit of a halt, when I fell ill to a rare disease. After 22 surgeries over the last 10 years, I was faced with learning to walk and talk again.
